Dennis Archer

Dennis Archer, former Mayor of Detroit

Dennis W. Archer was the Mayor of Detroit from 1994 to 2001. Before that, he served on the Michigan Supreme Court from 1986 to 1990. After leaving public office, he became the first African American President of the American Bar Association in 2003-2004. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Western Michigan University, and his law degree from the Detroit College of Law in 1970. Currently, he is Chairman of the Detroit-based law firm Dickinson Wright. He has received numerous accolades from a variety of national organizations and media for his tenure as Mayor and his achievements as a lawyer.

Sherwood Boehlert

Sherwood Boehlert, former U.S. Congressman from New York

Sherwood "Sherry" Boehlert was a Republican member of the U. S. House of Representatives representing New York's upstate 24th Congressional District from 1983 to 2007. He served on the House Science Committee for his entire congressional career, becoming chairman of the committee in 2001. In addition, he was the third-ranking member of the Transportation Committee, and from 1995 to 2000 he served as the chairman of its Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment. He was also a member of the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He is on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Climate Protection.

Slade Gorton

Slade Gorton, former U.S. Senator

Slade Gorton was a United States Senator from Washington State from 1981 until 1987, and again from 1989 until 2001. In 2002, he became a member of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (popularly known as the "9/11 Commission") and the commission issued its final report in 2004. Slade served in the Washington State House of Representatives from 1959-1969, and was the majority leader from 1967-1969. He was the Washington State Attorney General from 1969-1981. In between serving in both the United States Army and Air Force, he received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his law degree from Columbia University. He currently works at the law firm of K&L Gates.

Martin Sabo

Martin Olav Sabo, former U.S. Congressman from Minnesota

Martin Sabo was a United States Congressman representing Minnesota's fifth district, which includes Minneapolis, from 1979 to 2007. He chaired the House Budget Committee during the 103rd Congress, and was the ranking member of the House Appropriations Homeland Security subcommittee during the 109th Congress. He also has served as the ranking member of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee. Martin served for 18 years as a member of the Minnesota State House of Representatives, including six years as Speaker of the House.
